Why Land Trusts Matter

Land trusts are one of the most effective tools Realtors can use to align ethical practice with long-term value. They protect property from speculative turnover, preserve ecological and cultural integrity, and help clients ensure their land remains in trusted hands for generations. By guiding clients to establish land trusts, Realtors become leaders in estate and legacy planning — helping to shape a future rooted in stewardship, justice, and sustainability.

Land Trust Realtors Alliance

Who We Are

The Land Trust Realtors Alliance is a global network of real estate and land transfer professionals using land trusts as tools for legacy, justice, stewardship, and community building.

By integrating trust-based landholding into real estate practice, we are defining a new standard for the real estate profession—one rooted in truth, reciprocity, and enduring care for both people and planet.

How We Started

My name is Aelah Sophia Bardelmeier.
I am a  founding member of the Land Trust Realtors Alliance International, as well as a participating member of the Land Trust Alliance.

This initiative began in early 2025 as part of a personal journey of apology, reconciliation, and forgiveness within my own ancestry. Through this process, I recognized the need for real estate practices that honor both sovereignty and stewardship—returning integrity to how land is held, transferred, and protected for future generations.

2050 Pact

In the next 25 years, we are committed to returning 1 million acres in the Trail of Tears region to Native peoples and descendants of enslaved ancestors—less than 10% of the 10 million acres seized from the Cherokee, Muscogee Creek, Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw during forced removals.
